ELECTRIC VEHICLES IN THE SUNSHINE STATE

Electrify The South and Southern Alliance for Clean Energy are following scientific guidelines to keep our staff and communities safe as we continue working to transform how our region produces and consumes energy during the COVID-19 pandemic.

While we continue to believe that first-hand driving opportunities are important to help people understand and experience electric vehicles, we have suspended in-person electric vehicle ride and drive events and are offering virtual EV ride and drives through webinars for the near future. We are looking down the road at possible events later in 2020 and welcome your ideas or suggestions.

WHY ARE WE DRIVING ON SUNSHINE?

To provide firsthand driving experiences

The best way to see how fun, easy and practical electric vehicles (EV) are is to drive one for yourself!  That’s why we're touring the Sunshine State offering first-hand ride and drive opportunities with an electric-vehicle roadshow. Our expert staff brings a variety of vehicles so attendees may have the chance to drive a Nissan LEAF hatchback, a Tesla Model 3 sedan, or a Tesla Model X crossover.

To pave the way for a clean transportation + clean energy economy

Clean energy is already driving our economy. Charging an electric vehicle is already better for the environment than fueling up a traditional gas-powered vehicle — reducing both pollution and the need for offshore drilling. When an electric vehicle is powered by renewable energy, such as solar, then the impacts are close to zero. We envision a near future where all transportation is fueled by clean, renewable energy sources.

To promote the benefits of electric vehicles

Not only are EVs key to reducing carbon emissions that cause climate change, they also protect public health, reduce the need for offshore drilling, and save drivers money! EVs are rapidly becoming more affordable, more practical, and more popular, but there are still many misconceptions about them - so we welcome the chance to educate and advocate about the benefits of electrifying transportation.

Driving on Sunshine provides an opportunity for individuals to experience why

driving electric is a clean transportation solution that saves money,

protects public health, and preserves our planet.
